RED BUTTON COMICS (206) (RED BUTTON IN MODERN DANCE (1))
ref. Below is the comment bybravenewworld711
Upload Date: 2007. 2. 7.
The Jets try to play it cool after Riff's death. I think this is one of the best performed and arranged sequences of the film. Can you imagine expressing repressed anger through pirouette? Genius. And I love how they stare into the camera (supposedly where the Sharks are) in the end.

MEMO
In the musical "Westside Story," the choreography by Jerome Robbins was revolutionary. Let me call it the red button for modern dance.

All of forms displayed in the images above are located in the grey area between two-dimensional and three-dimensional spaces. The confusion involved in the representation of these forms is rooted in the way human sense of vision recognizes perspective. Perspective is defined as 'the art of creating an effect of depth and distance in a picture by representing people and things that are far away as being smaller than those that are nearer the front' (quoted from Oxford Advanced Learner's English Dictionary).
All of forms above except for the third one are out of perspective, i.e. the length or width of the lines far away is the same as that of the lines nearer the front. Contemporary human's sense of vision is so well adapted to perspective that, in the case of the third picture, only vague hint of perspective made by slanted lines at bottom can induce viewers to recognize the picture as a three-dimensional space.
